The Institute of Native American Studies (INAS) at the University of Georgia is one of the leading programs in indigenous studies in the country and the premier program in the American South. We are a vibrant community of two dozen scholars, including six Native faculty, in addition to our graduate and undergraduate students. Each year, we bring prominent figures in Native American and indigenous studies, representing a wide variety of endeavors, to campus to speak. INAS supports faculty and graduate student research, and we partner with tribal nations and other community organizations on a variety of research and service projects. INAS offers both an undergraduate and a graduate certificate in Native American Studies. In addition, it has four specialized tracks in historic preservation, landscape architecture, public health, and Indigenous Latin America. UGA also has outstanding programs in law, environmental design, ecology, and forestry & natural resources, among many other areas of interest to Native students and scholars of Native America. INAS offers tuition support, coordination with tribal programs, the Ruth Pack Native Scholarship program, and a community of scholars who promote Native voices on campus and continually strive to raise awareness and understanding of Native American issues.
