Requirements The undergraduate certificate requires 19 hours of course work. It is designed to provide students with a broad foundation in Native American Studies. This includes: a) RELI/NAMS 1100 Introduction to Native American Studies (In some rare instances, a directed study, approved by the Director of INAS, may be substituted for this requirement); b) at least one course or directed study in each of five core areas (cultures; archaeology; History; law and policy; and literature); and c) completion of RELI/NAMS 4701 Methods in the Study of Native American Cultures.
