Constance Owl Joins UGA as a Presidential Fellow Graduate Student

Constance Owl, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians from the Cherokee County Community, has decided to come to UGA and work alongside Dr. Claudio Saunt as a Presidential Fellow Graduate Student.

Owl previously served as Interim Associate Dean and Director of Stanford's Native American Cultural Center, working to be a liason between the univeristy and the Native community.

She graduated from Sanford University in 2018 with a degree in Native American Studies before pursuing her masters in History at Western Carolina University. While at WCU, she served as a research and teaching assistant for the History Program and was a member of the Digali’i Native Student Organization.  Owl was awarded the Dean’s Outstanding Scholar Award for her graduate thesis research.
