Study Shows Isolated Indigenous People as Happy as Wealthy Western Peers

A series of interviews shows people living in remote Indigenous communities are just as happy, if not happier, than the average person in high-income Western countries.

Many see this as proof that money cannot buy happiness. The study was conducted by the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. They say their research is “good news for sustainability and human happiness, as they provide strong evidence that resource-intensive economic growth is not required to achieve high levels of subjective wellbeing”.
