Wednesday, November 20 2024, 12 - 1:30pm Miller Learning Center 350 The Institute of Native American Studies, The Laboratory of Archaeology, and the Office of Research Integrity and Safety invite UGA students, faculty and staff to a lunchtime panel discussion of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. This 1990 Federal Law has important implications for the university, from existing collections, collection management practices, and past, present and future research. The panel includes LeAnne Howe (UGA Eidson Professor of American Literature, Director of INAS, and Choctaw Nation Citizen), Miranda Panther (Eastern Band of Cherokee Tribal Historic Preservation Office NAGPRA Officer), Carey Garland (UGA Laboratory of Archaeology Bioarchaeologist and NAGPRA Research Public Service Manager), and Mary E.
